Teaching: Vocabulary

Gavin Dudeney, co-founder of The Consultants-e has taken over from David Crystal to produce the BBC World Service English language feature Keep Your English Up To Date. Each new unit is based on a word or expression that has recently become popular in the English speaking world. The units include a recording (and transcript) of Gavin introducing the word or expression together with a lesson plan that consists of worksheets for learner activities and teacher's notes.

The first unit in the series of thirteen units features the expression D'oh made famous by the American cartoon character Homer Simpson and has just been made available by the BBC here: D'oh.

This topical series is a really welcome addition to the ever growing wealth of online teaching resources we now have access to.
